Christopher Small is a PhD candidate in Citizenship and Human Rights at the Universitat de Barcelona. His research focuses on ontological theories of political agency attributable to the activism performed by stateless peoples, refugees, and noncitizens. Christopher’s dissertation critiques citizen-based frameworks as a means to evaluate the agency of the excluded and works to reformulate the capacity for action as a faculty independent of the condition of authorized political belonging. His research is heavily influenced by the tradition of post-foundationalism. He is also interested in the work of Hannah Arendt, Jacques Ranciere, and Claude Lefort.

Christopher graduated from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona) with an MA in Political Philosophy and with a BA in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of British Columbia (Vancouver).
