**Prof. Cristina Blanco Sío-López** is **Tenured Associate Professor** in Contemporary History and Sociology at the University of La Coruña (UDC), Spain. She is also a Research [**Affiliate**](https://www.cdh.cam.ac.uk/about/people/cristina-blanco-sio-lopez/) at **Cambridge Digital Humanities** **(CDH)** and a Life Member and Fellow at [**Clare Hall**](https://www.clarehall.cam.ac.uk/news/dr-cristina-blanco-sio-lopez-receives-maria-moliner-spanish-national-research-award-in-humanities-by-the-king-of-spain-and-the-minister-of-science-innovation-and-universities/), the College of Advanced Studies at the University of Cambridge.

During the academic year **2024-2025** she was a [Visiting Fellow](https://www.crassh.cam.ac.uk/about/people/cristina-blanco-sio-lopez/) at the **Centre for Research in the Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities** (CRASSH) at the **University of Cambridge.** In 2024 she received the ‘María Moliner’ Spanish [**National Research Award in the Humanities**](https://www.crassh.cam.ac.uk/blog/cristina-blanco-sio-lopez-receives-the-2024-maria-moliner-national-research-award-in-the-humanities/) from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. She was the Principal Investigator (PI) of the NextGenerationEU ‘FREEMOVEU’ and ‘FUNDEU’ and was a **Marie Skłodowska-Curie** Senior Global Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh and at the Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where she directed the EU H-2020 project ‘NAVSCHEN’ as PI. She previously was Assistant Professor in European Culture and Politics at the **University of Groningen** and [‘Santander’ Senior Fellow](https://www.sant.ox.ac.uk/european-studies/european-studies-centre/visiting-fellowships-at-the-european-studies-centre/fellowships-on-spanish-and-iberian-studies/) in European Studies at the European Studies Centre (ESC) – St. Antony’s College of the **University of Oxford**, where she remains a Senior Member. She obtained her **PhD** in History and Civilization –with a specialization in European Integration History– at the [European University Institute](https://www.eui.eu/en/home) of Florence and received the FAEY’s **Best PhD Thesis** **Award** 2008.

Currently, she is also [**Fellow**](https://royalhistsoc.org/society-elects-306-new-fellows-associate-fellows-members-and-postgraduate-members/) of the **Royal Historical Society** **(RHS);** [Fellow](https://yacadeuro.org/blanco-sio-lopez/) of the **Young Academy of Europe (YAE)** and [Corresponding Member](https://academiajoven.es/academicos/cristina-blanco-sio-lopez/) of the **Young Academy of Spain.** From 2021-2023 Prof. Blanco Sío-López was [**Executive Committee Member**](https://globalyoungacademy.net/new-governing-body-elected-agm-2022/) of the Global Young Academy (**GYA**), based at the German Academy of Sciences ‘Leopoldina’.

Her research and publications focus on European Integration History with an accent on: EU enlargement policy narrative temporalities; the Schengen Area fundamental human mobility rights and sustainable factors of peace studied through the Arts and shared via Digital Humanities conceptual maps.
