Daniel Steinmetz-Jenkins

Daniel Steinmetz-Jenkins is an intellectual historian of modern political thought with a specific focus on Europe and the world from the Cold War to the present. He addresses such topics as liberalism, conservatism, populism, secularism, religion and the Global Cold War. He is an Assistant Professor in the College of Social Studies at Wesleyan University.

Currently, he is writing a book for Yale University Present titled: Impossible Peace, Improbable War: Raymond Aron and World Order. His edited collection, Did it Happen Here? Fascism and America will be published by W.W. Norton in Spring, 2004.

He is the essays and reviews editor for Modern Intellectual History and the former managing editor of The Immanent Frame. He runs a regular interview series at The Nation. His public commentaries have appeared in The Nation, The Guardian, The Atlantic, Times Literary Supplement, Dissent Magazine, Foreign Affairs and elsewhere. He has published academic articles in Modern Intellectual History, Journal of the History of Ideas, Global Intellectual History and elsewhere.
