K. Morgan McGlothlin is a PhD Candidate in Political Theory at Georgetown University, with interests in early French liberal thought, the interaction of politics and literature, and the role of the individual. These themes are at the forefront of Mme de Staël's thought, who is the subject of her dissertation. Staël's work spans literary and political contexts, focusing on the idea of sympathy, cosmopolitanism, and limitations on power.
