Md Mizanur Rahman is a PhD candidate in Politics with a DE in History of Consciousness at the University of California, Santa Cruz. His scholarship sits at the intersection of political theory, intellectual history, and Islamic studies, with a particular focus on the relationship between Islam and liberalism in late colonial and postcolonial South Asia. Rahman’s dissertation project reconstructs the ideas and political actions of three anticolonial Muslim thinkers from twentieth-century Bengal in order to theorize their thinking around the individual, community, and state.
