Xavier Dwight Gentalian is a scholar of political science with a keen interest in political philosophy, citizenship, agency, and political spaces. Based in the Philippines, he serves as a tenured faculty member of the Humanities and Social Sciences Department and a part-time faculty position at the Department of Political Science and Development Studies at the De La Salle University, where he contributes to fostering academic growth in these dynamic fields.

His varied research interests stems largely from the wealth of scholarly work he has been exposed to through his mentors and mentees alike, with some focusing on online political engagement, the sentiments of Filipino youth, and discursive analyses of texts, literature, and art, drawing inspiration from the wealth of scholarly work he has encountered through both mentors and mentees. His master’s thesis, “Rethinking Spaces of Political Agency,” reflects his fascination with digital spaces, video games, and the ways individuals express agency in these contexts. Alongside his research, he has extensive experience teaching specialized social science courses and introductory classes on politics, citizenship, and governance, where he encourages students to critically explore these continuously evolving fields.

He holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in political science, which he earned from Far Eastern University and De La Salle University, respectively. He is preparing to pursue doctoral studies in the near future, seeking to deepen his contributions to political science scholarship and pedagogy.
